The Done Manifesto

I learned about the Done Manifesto about a month ago, but oh do I need to follow it right now. I'm backed up with projects. I am a perfectionist. I fiddle, edit, make, assess, delete, redo, rinse and repeat. I need to get these projects done so I can clear up my life and get moving on paying work, because they are in my way. I'm pretty sure that there will always be projects like these around, but for right now I need to get the ones in front of me done. Onwards and upwards my friends, surge through the fray.

The Done Manifesto

1.
There are three states of being. Not knowing, action and completion.
2.
Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done.
3.
There is no editing stage.
4.
Pretending you know what you’re doing is almost the same as knowing what you are doing, so just accept that you know what you’re doing even if you don’t and do it.
5.
Banish procrastination. If you wait more than a week to get an idea done, abandon it.
6.
The point of being done is not to finish but to get other things done.
7.
Once you’re done you can throw it away.
8.
Laugh at perfection. It’s boring and keeps you from being done.
9.
People without dirty hands are wrong. Doing something makes you right.
10.
Failure counts as done. So do mistakes.
11.
Destruction is a variant of done.
12.
If you have an idea and publish it on the internet, that counts as a ghost of done.
13.
Done is the engine of more.

I think I'm going to print out this interpretation for my room.

Whoo! Alright - Yeah...Uh Huh

I forgot how good this felt. How did I forget this? It's been so long since I edited something for fun. My brain is a buzz with potential cuts for this video. No more polar bears, no more dry and serious interviews. How much fun this is to let the beats and tempo be expressed as visuals. There is life in these hands and fingers, and I'm sure if I was looking at myself I'd see it in my eyes as well. This is first love rediscovered, the honeymoon revisited, a reminder of why. I am going to leave my Cedarwood era with such a good video, most likely my last video for them ever, if this inspiration keeps flowing. It will be shared upon completion.

Admitting weakness can be one of the hardest things to do.

When I die, remember that I was a jerk sometimes.
